Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy
Transpersonal Psychotherapy recognises and works with experiences that
extend beyond the normal sense of identity to encompass wider aspects
of human kind, life, psyche and cosmos. It has been proved to help people
to lighten all sorts of loads and to help in personal growth. This can
include:
A wide range of transpersonal techniques can be used. The client and the counsellor agree which are the most appropriate and helpful. These methods can include:
All transpersonal counsellors are also taught and use the key conventional therapeutic and counselling disciplines. Shaun also works with couples and families. CBT is also available. What will happen on my first visit? A first visit with Shaun is free and lasts for half an hour. This gives you the opportunity to discuss your issues with complete confidentiality. Should you decide that transpersonal counselling with Shaun is for you a series of one hour sessions will be agreed. These sessions cost £42. There are some low cost places available for people in financial need. Shaun has a foundation certificate in the fundamentals of counselling and psychotherapy, a diploma in Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy and is registered with the UKCP. (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). Shaun is also the CBT group manager for Oxfordshire Mind. Who is it suitable for? Transpersonal counselling is multi faith. It believes that there is a soul or higher self and that there is a divine being or One. We are all unique and are born with soul qualities, which have a profound impact on us in addition to genes and environment. Often the therapy involves getting back in touch with those qualities. For an atheist it would therefore be difficult to work in a transpersonal way (unless you are open to being surprised!). However someone with any other belief system, including agnostic would feel at home. Transpersonal counselling can help with any problem, however big or small and can give people the strength to surmount their difficulties. |
