Lorinda Gamlin : BACP Registered Counsellor
I am a qualified counsellor and member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, which is one of the main governing bodies for the counselling profession. I work within their guidelines and code of ethics for safe practice. I receive regular supervision which helps to ensure that good therapeutic standards are maintained. I see my role as providing a quiet and uninterrupted time for you to explore any issues that are causing you concern. I work with people who are facing a challenge or difficulty and want to explore issues within a warm, supportive, non judgemental and confidential environment. Some clients may wish to make decisions and change in their lives, while others may wish to resolve issues from the past which are still affecting their wellbeing today.
I provide counselling for a range of issues such as: stress caused by self esteem, depression, loss, bereavement, challenges and changes in life, difficulties affecting relationships and work, eating distress, gender issues and sexuality.
I can offer short term, problem focused or longer term therapy as required. I also work with young people in a local agency.
I use a client centred approach and focus on building trust, respect and empathy in our working relationship. The client sets his or her own agenda, pace and goals, all of which can be reviewed regularly. I may also draw on other approaches when appropriate, in order to gain insight and raise awareness in our sessions. I understand that taking that first step towards counselling is difficult, so I offer a free initial consultation so that you can decide whether you would feel comfortable working with me.
